For some time, eBay has been increasingly used graphics cards, which were originally used by miners to scrape crypto currencies. Now the manufacturer warns Palit Microsystems before buying such mining cards.
This says Palit Microsystems: The PC Hardware Manufacturers headquartered in Taiwan is one of the largest graphics species producers worldwide and has large market shares in countries such as Russia or Ukraine. Compared to the Polish side benchmark.pl, they have expressed themselves to the current flood of used GPUs, which were originally used by miners for the poultry of crypto wetts.
"Independent Tests", the Palit performed showed that the mining affects the performance of the graphics cards. After one year of use, the GPUs lost 10% of their performance and delivered worse results than identical models that were new.
This means that even if the used cards are still good and to have for the original price, it could happen that they only offer you some of the maximum performance.
Incidentally, a Youtuber set a similar power loss. Our colleagues from the Gamestar reported about it (via gamestar.de).
Purchase of mining gpus - a lucky thing?
This is the situation for used GPUs: While China originally considered the country, in which most of the crypto dutriage was hafted, that has changed abruptly after the prohibition of the government. Accordingly, many miners now try to reduce their losses by offering their hardware to tempting prices on pages like eBay.
Since in the hardware area continues to prevail and new graphics cards are either sold out or offered to astronomical prices, the used GPUs seem to be a good alternative. According to the manufacturer Palit Microsystems, you have to expect that the acquired hardware offers weaker performance due to the wear for mining.
Of course you should not immediately condemn all the graphics cards used for mining. Clever miners do not run their hardware fully utilized, but "undoerved" their GPUs. That is, they reduce the supply voltage in a targeted manner to load the hardware less and save electricity. This also extends the life of the graphics cards and makes them interesting as usedware.
However, it is impossible to assess whether the offered used GPU has worked in the advertisement under good conditions and treated gently. It also happens that the graphics cards were driven to the limit during fumes and exposed to high temperatures for months. Prior to these cases, the manufacturer warns Palit.

In addition, you can not rely on the fact that the graphics card has a warranty. Palit admits that you have no way to determine if a GPU was used for mining. But there are evidence of this, so the manufacturer:
- Certain types of damages can be returned to crypto mining
- All cards have a serial number and you can easily determine from which region the hardware originally came, which can also provide an indication
- Visible adjustments and modifications to the graphics cards such as replaced cooling. In such cases, the warranty immediately expires, as it was screwed around on the cards
As a manufacturer of graphics cards, Palit is not impartial. The sale of used cards does not bring money to the company, which is why it's interest that your customers prefer to buy new GPUs. Nevertheless, it is important when buying a used graphics card to consider your possible background.
