Originally, the contract of the 27-year-old Brazilian ran until 2023, now the FC Liverpool has reached three more years prematurely. "I am very pleased to have signed a new contract with the club," Fabinho is quoted on the Site of Reds, "I wanted to stay here and play for Liverpool. Now, where it is official, I am very happy."
The central midfielder came to the Anfield Road three years ago for 43.7 million pounds from Monaco and has since completed 122 compulsory games for the Klopp-ELF. In 2019 he helped Liverpool to the Champions League title (2: 0 in the final against Tottenham), a year later to the first championship after thirty years of waiting time. In the past season, the set midfielder moved into the domestic defense, replaced the long-term injured Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip. With its versatility he helped the Reds after a serious season to qualify for the royal class.
Further contract extensions planned
"For me it is the best place to develop myself and learn from the employees and the team. Hopefully we will continue to achieve good," says Fabinho. After extending heat Trent Alexander-Arnold, the FC Liverpool has bound the second support in a few days long term. And further contract renewals are planned: Keeper Alisson, Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Andrew Robertson are to be equipped with new contracts in the coming weeks and months.
